Sequesterville

I want to give a big thanks to commenter Jess, over at The Computer Vet Weblog, for pointing this out to me. All throughout the history of The Amazing Race, it’s been kind of an open secret that the eliminated teams are taken to a resort location, somewhere in the world, where they have to wait out the rest of the Race until the winner crosses the finish line. This mysterious place has been informally dubbed “Sequesterville”, because you’re sequestered there and can’t leave until the show is finished filming.
In ten seasons of the Race, we’ve never seen Sequesterville, just heard about it from former racers telling stories online. But now Sequesterville has become official, with the addition of the “Elimination Station” as a web extra on CBS’ site. The Elimination Station is basically footage from inside Sequesterville, a short three-minute video of the eliminated teams chilling out by the pool in Acapulco. It’s actually a lot like how on Big Brother they show you footage from the “jury house”: interviews about how much being kicked off the race sucks, and wondering who will be next.
This week it’s just John Vito and Jill alone in the house, talking about how they’d rather be out racing still. But things should get interesting in the coming weeks as the house fills up.
