On The Air

The new season of The Amazing Race kicked off Sunday night. And while it didn’t have quite the bang of some previous premieres, it was still exciting enough just because it’s All Stars! Eleven former teams have come back for a second shot at the big prize, and they’re ready to bring it this time. Or, ready to limp around ineffectively. Depending.

Early standouts are Rob and Amber (gack – of course) and Oswald and Danny. Early duds are Eric and Danielle (who?), David and Mary (where?) and Charla and Mirna (why?). John Vito and Jill are the first ones out, and I can’t say I’m too crushed, especially since it came down to either them or my favorites Kevin and Drew at the end. But overall there’s a big sense that a lot of these teams are having a pretty disappointing start, as far as the levels of awesome we’ve come to expect from their previous seasons. That’s okay; there are still twelve more legs to go.
